MacBook Pro 15 2008 lion, won't sleep.... needs mac ambien??

does anyone know of a fix for non-sleeping mac? when put to sleep the screen goes black and within 5 seconds the hard drive spins and the screen comes on... no sleep.

tried adjusting energy saver to no avail. turned it off. used disk utility to fix permissions.... this wasn't happening before leaving for a month long vacation. this computer was left at home, turned off. now no sleep....?

anyone have any ambien for a mac??

Have you tried an SMC reset yet?

Thank you, I'll keep the ambient for myself....

It worked!! The SMC reset called for removing the battery... the inability to sleep could be related to how I left the mac, without the battery installed, for the month away on vacation??
