MacBook Pro 15" 2009 Evaluation

Hello, first time posting on this website…I have a Macbook Pro 15" purchased brand new in 2009. Can anyone tell me how long this laptop is good for (or will last) before I should get a new one? (This is my first mac)
The laptop has significantly slowed down in performance recently but otherwise has been great to use. It's been used on for college work, photo imaging and everyday web browsing.

You should get a new one when your old one breaks down or you are no longer satisfied by its performance. Keep in mind that even the cheapest MacBook Air is twice as fast as your 2009 machine now (and will subjectively appear much more faster yet).
