My MacBook Pro suddenly started crashing on me yesterday. It would just suddenly restart and when I ran a diagnostic it gave me the PPM002 error code.

With the pandemic going on I can’t get to an Apple store to have it looked at. Does any one have any tips? I read it could be the ram but also read this could be a costly fix as it’s tied to the logic board?

Also if I were to get a new MacBook Pro. Would target disk mode work to get all my files and preferences onto the new MBP?

Have you tried the usual things to try when nothing else comes to mind, resetting SMC and NVRAM? Then run the diagnostic again. At least one person with that error had success with that, though there doesn't seem to be any reason he should have.

Yes tried that. It helped keeping it running for a bit longer. But once I started any application it would crash.
I think l will just have to wait until the Apple stores open again in my area.
