Afternoon,
Clients MacBook Pro 15-inch 2018:
15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Grey
With the following configuration:
2.9GHz 6-core 8th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz
Radeon Pro 560X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory
32GB 2400MHz DDR4 memory
4TB SSD storage
Retina display with True Tone
Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
Touch Bar and Touch ID
PRO APPS 065-C171 NONE
LOGIC PRO X 065-C172 NONE
Backlit Keyboard - British
Accessory Kit
£6,209.00
Currently on it's 3rd replacement (previous occasions speaker blew which turned out to be an Adobe bug).
However now it's got an issue where the CPU will under-clock under load, resting around 1.3-.14Ghz whilst thermals are around 50-60c and with 100% utilisation. Making the entire system lag whilst it's performing in Adobe Premier Pro for example.
Attached are some screenshots with the machine running 10.14.5 and 10.14.6 and for comparison a Late 2013 showing what you would normally expect.
SMC/PRAM/Wipe & Reload have all been performed with no improvement.
I've found a YouTuber with similar issues:
I've had my client book it into Apple for next week, but would be interesting to know if anyone else is having the same problem and knows the cause?
