Hello, I've been having issues with my MacBook pro A1286 mid-2009 unibody. It recently had water spilled on it "right outside the warranty of course" and the screen stopped working, the video card worked just fine connected to an external monitor. After tons of research, I decided to replace the LVDS cable, the entire logic board and the screen itself. I had all these parts installed at a local computer repair shop, but they gave me my MacBook back and the screen still doesn't work, It powers on and I can see the apple logo with a flashlight to the back of it but there is no backlight. Which is progress because before I had all those parts replaced the screen was completely dead no image even with a flashlight. The guy at the computer repair shop told me to reinstall OSX Yosemite and the screen backlight will come on, but I've never heard of OSX Yosemite causing LED backlight issues. I'm in the process of backing everything up now and then I will perform the reinstall of Mac OSX Yosemite. But has anyone here ever heard of Mac OSX Yosemite causing backlight issues? I don't know what else could be causing the problem, any thoughts on the issue is appreciated thank you in advance for your response.

Just finished reinstalling Mac Os x Yosemite and still no backlight, can anyone help with this issue? I have a brand new logic board installed do you think maybe the board I ordered from a trusted eBay company was DOA? they claimed to have certified technicians testing all their products before they ship em. or is there something else I'm missing software issue maybe? brand new LCD and brand new LVDS cable what else could be causing a no backlight issue if it's not the logic board, screen, or LVDS cable. could it be a bios issue? do macs even have a bios? I'm really pulling my hair out over this one thanx for the response. I looked inside the case also to see if they left any cables unplugged or pinched and every cable is snug and no kinks or rips in any of the cables, what the heck is going on here?

I guess the lack of responses might suggest that there's not much you can do but send it back to the repair shop.
I personally would have put the money spent on replacement parts into a new laptop.
Hope you get it sorted.
