hello everyone;

I dropped a very thin booklet on my "C" key and it took the key off and broke the nipple. And while I was trying to put them back I broke the scissors...

A keyboard replacement seems inevitable...I was wondering how much will this cost me (went out of warranty just 15 days ago) if I send my computer to apple. (my dealer seems to be an authorized service too)

Thanks in advance :(

Just two weks ago, the Apple Store quoted us $66 for the keyboard and $125 for labor. Indeed, once one of those keyboard nipple things come off, Apple says the keyboard must be replaced.

approx. 200$ they told me :( so much for dropping a leaf-like booklet :(

Why not just buy a keyboard on ebay for cheap, and check out iFixIt.com to see how to do it yourself. It's pretty easy...

No actually it's not. The peeling of the backing is very difficult not to rip.

It's extremely difficult to put keys back on the MBP once they are off, like the whole key including the little parts, it's a waste of time, don't try it!
