I bought a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro about 3 years ago and 2 months ago, the LED backlight stopped working. There are no Apple stores in my country so I ignored the problem by connecting it to an external monitor, but now it's getting frustrating.

There is still an image when I point at the screen with a torch. I tried replacing the whole LCD but the backlight still didn't light up. Any ideas of getting this fixed? Bad LVDS cable maybe?
