i was reading the guide thread on "macbook pro" and it shows the mid 2012 (2.3ghz i7) low end macbook pro 15 does not support automatic graphics switching.

is that a typo or is that for real?

thanks

From Apple's website

The wording is vague but it might be the case. Call or use Apple's Live Chat service to be sure. Any word from 2.3GHz i7 Ivy 15" cMBP users?

so it does seem like the 512mb version doesn't have automatic switching. hmmm interesting

I have that model and it does support graphics switching. If you install gfxcardstatus it will tell you when it switches.
