Anyone here who find the black bezzles of the 16" still too thick?

Less bezzles = physically smaller Macbook Pro.

I just measured the top (1cm) and the bottom, left and right (each side 0.5cm) and I find it still too much.

I would have liked to see bezzle thickness to under 3mm on all 4 sides.

This would have allowed Apple to maintain the width and depth from the old 15" but it would be a bit thicker for the battery.

A screen to body ratio of better than 96% would be nice.

Nope. It doesn't bother me at all. But...imagine someday they'll be as thin as the 2020 Samsung Q950TS 8K TV just announced at CES. Nah probably can't be done now probably just on the sake of durability alone.

As you can see from this picture on Apple's site, the bezels on the new 16" MacBook Pro are thinner than the current 13" MacBook Pro...BUT...

I think many people will buy the 13" with the same bezels so long as it has the new Magic Keyboard from the 16".

I sold my brand new and sealed MBP 13" when I saw the MBP 16". Aesthetically it's an upgrade and going back to the scissor keyboard was a big help.

The 16" has done a lot to ameliorate the many MacBook Pro fans who were put off by the butterfly keyboard alone. Now I would have preferred they go back to the 17' screen size but hey, I'll take it. I hope they bring back the 15" screen size in some form with the scissor key switches and perhaps equip it with a quad-core i5 — just to help the folks who desire a larger display than 13" but don't need the power of the 16".

I mean take Dell XPS bezels for example.

I would love if the 16" was anything like that but I don't mind what we got so far.

In my mind a thinner bezel is always better. But as already stated, I think the bezel is thicker on this display then, for example, an OLED TV due to durability.

The thing is, you make the bezel less and you then run the risk of the screen flexing and breaking - it's a weigh off between screen protection and aesthetics.

I've seen quite a few broken screens on the Dell XPS series, if they are in a laptop bag and you knock it from the side, dropping down on a hard floor for example, the screen breaks - the apple machines don't suffer from this - but have seen a few bent top-cases.

Not worried at all. I don't want my Mac future features like face recognition and a 1080 camera to be hobbled by lack of space around the screen. Also, I like separation from the screen in front of me and real world behind the screen.

It's kind of funny people are demanding changes for aesthetic reasons when the reason for that model existing is primarily correcting for a mistake they made when changing things for aesthetic reasons :)

Bezels have a purpose—they protect fragile screens, they give people somewhere to stick their hands to adjust it without smudging the glass, they add structural reinforcement, they often hide components that cannot easily fit behind the screen or shouldn't. Obviously a higher screen-to-body ratio *looks* cooler and is not innately without advantages (fitting larger screens in smaller packages) but it's got to be compared with the sum total of engineering decisions.

I know that if I were an older XPS owner, I'd be annoyed that the bezels made the webcam effectively useless for most cases, since no one wants their video conferencing to be shots looking up their nose (a design choice made for thinner bezels that they've only now ameliorated.)

I hope the next iMac redesign will have bezels that are 5mm or less.
On a desktop bezels don't matter that much. If they could get them down to the level of the old Aluminum cinema displays, they would be fine. If you have a 27-32 inch screen, the clearance needed for half an inch of bezel on each side won't stop you from using the screen. The chin could definitely go away though, the machine should be thicker regardless for better thermals and RAM upgrades on the smaller model.

Maybe I’m too old school but bezel size never bugged me. I have a 2013 11” MacBook Air I still use regularly and I never notice the bezels.
