Hi all,
I'm about to purchase a MBP 16" and my main needs are general office work, 4k media consumption (Netflix etc) and some gaming.
I've decided on the specs of the machine apart from the CPU and wanted to see if anyone has seen any reliable info, or had personal experience they could share.
I'll be getting the 5600m GPU, 32GB of ram and 1TB SSD. Now, both the i7 and i9 will be fine for the work and media consumption, but i'm unsure about the gaming portion. I know games benefit far more from increased CPU clock speed vs more cores once you get to 6 or more cores in your CPU. From all the benchmarks i've seen in reviews of the i7 vs i9 model, under full load the i7 seems to maintain a steady 3.5Ghz where the i9 only maintains 3.0Ghz. This is making me think that with the same GPU - the i7 will actually outperform the i9 in gaming due to the higher maintained clock speeds.
I haven't been able to find anything online comparing the i7 vs i9 with the same GPU. Anyone have any insight into this?
