Hi Guys,

I am planning to get the new MBP 16 inch and I would appreciate any inputs in deciding the specs.

I am planning to run parallels also with windows side by side to the macos as I need windows to install the Bloomberg Terminal and also Microsoft office on windows too as it pulls data from bloomberg terminal.

For the macos side i use it for work running applications such as google chrome, tradingview, ms office, twitter, mail, google drive for business etc.

But they key is running all of this together/multitasking with the windows on parrallels running bloomberg terminal too.

The requirements for Bloomberg Terminal is shown below. I am standard user pretty much.

So which specs would you recommend. I don't mind going a bit over as this will be long term use and may eventually use for video edits here and there too.

I will also connect to 1-2 External monitors.

I had in mind to go for the:

Top M1 Max Chip (10-32-16)
32GB Ram
512GB Storage

Question: Is this ok or too less or too much?

Would appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks!

Swadeep

The M1 Max is very graphics intensive and I don't see you doing anything that needs a ton of graphics power. Unless you're going to connect up multiple 4K monitors (rather than lower resolution), you could probably do all of that with the old Intel integrated graphics and both m1 Pro and Max will mop the floor with the Intel integrated graphics.

I'd get the minimum CPU spec M1 Pro, however 32GB memory might not be a bad idea.
