I have a new MBP 16'' and when I'm at work, I use it with a Magic Keyboard and a Magic Mouse. When I'm at home and using my MBP without the peripherals, I'll often get a ~2 minute delay as a bluetooth helper menu pops up and tells me it's searching and unable to find any bluetooth peripherals. This never happened to me on any past MBP I've owned. Not sure if this is a Catalina thing or a MBP 16'' thing. I'm able to TouchID into my machine and then I have no mouse or keyboard access while the bluetooth connection fails, then the system seems to fall back on the built in ones and everything is fine. My MBP is up to date with the latest software.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a current solution?

I am having this exact problem. I also find that when I return to use my bluetooth keyboard and trackpad, they struggle to reconnect for a short while.

While I am not sure this will last long term, I seem to have fixed the problem by resetting the bluetooth module. There may be other ways to do this, but I did it by enabling the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar, then Option + Shift click it. Then go to Debug > Reset the Bluetooth Module.

It doesn't remove any devices or effect any of the connections, but it has meant that my devices now connect immediately and I haven't seen the "No keyboard found" error once over the weekend.

Same here this morning on a MacBook Pro 16 (2020), but the solution was "forgetting" the keyboard and connecting it back. Not even restarting the laptop had solved it.

Just in case this may help someone to the top of good suggestions above. I had the same issue using magic keyboard and mouse. Initially Shift+Option solution didn't help, nor removing all the devices and connecting them back on. UNTIL I turned the keyboard off and on.
