I primarily use my Mac for graphic design and illustration using photoshop, illustrator, and indesign primarily. With the occasional light work in FCPx and After Affects.

The plan is to update my set-up to a MacBook Pro 16inch with an iPad Pro and Cintiq 16inch (probably not both at the same time) as external drawing tablets.

I wanted to keep the budget down to around $3000 USD (with EDU pricing) but needed to get a better understanding on the CPU and Graphics Card and which would be better for these tasks. storage is not a deal breaker, 512 or 1TB is fine as most things will be bounced externally once complete and only personal stuff like photos and iTunes will be local. RAM is sort of a unknown, I think I could get away with 16GB but 32GB seems much better and for the price 64GB is sort of ridiculous.

I may hook up a LG Ultrafine 4K or 5K in the future for additional screen Realestate but I think the MacBook Pro + Cintiq or iPad Pro would be the primary set-up.
