Hello everyone,
I hope everything's good for you all in this troubled times!
I've been a MbP user for about 10 years now, mainly self repairing my hardware for that time.
I am facing a problem I'm not sure about, all information are welcome to solve it!
My MbP started having power issues a few months ago. I decided to replace the charger and the battery.
It all worked fine for a time but a week ago my PC started shutting down even if the battery was considered as charged or charging. Not a surprise considering I bought it 30€... ^^
I tried the classics maintenance procedures like resetting the NVRAM or the SMC, nothing helped. The only things that changed is that now my MbP doesn't get the time and date right at each startup and the battery is considered charged at 63% but when I take the power socket out the MbP shuts down instantly.
I was going to change the battery again but the time and date detail made me think that maybe the problem wasn't the cheap battery I bought but maybe it was my "internal" battery that was dead.
I know desktop PCs have this kind of small battery to prevent the loss of information such as time and date at shutdown. Do you know if MbP have the same type of small internal battery that could, if dead, make the time and date go wrong at every tartup? If it's the case could it be linked to my PC shutting down and having battery problems?
I didn't find much on the internet about that articular problem, thanks in advance for your help!
Cheers!
