As is most are familiar with RadeonGate and most likely the best solution to fix units effected is by re-balling GPU, as will be the course of action when the time comes for me. My question, can the GPU (in my case 6750m) be replaced with the 6770m? which from what I have seen so far is pin-for-pin identical and has the same bus interface.

Unit is MacBook pro 17" 2.3GHz.
 
No, its not replaceable.

Actually it is if it's sent to a third party place to be re-soldered.

I reballed my 15" cMBP (early 2011) with a 6770M. It originally came with 1GB 6750M GPU.

Yes, you can, if you can find someone to do it.

That's what I did. I sent it off to some guy in Malaysia (I used to be based there before going back to Melbourne) and had the guy buy a 6770M GPU to reball into my MBP.
