Hi there,
I cracked my Macbook Pro's 17" LCD screen and decided to repair it myself after following the instructions at powerbookmedic.com
The entire process was smooth and relatively easy, until I finished and turned it on. The first time, the familiar blue screen appeared and so did the Apple logo. Almost instantly after, the screen immediately flickered from the right side across to reveal the black screen of death, with a very faint Apple logo barely visible in the blackness.
I turned it off overnight and tried it again today. Today the screen is black with no Apple logo and it repeatedly flickers from the right side. There is also a very faint line dilineating a lighter black and darker black at different points across the screen, changing every time I turn the computer off and back on again.
Someone told me this might be the backlight inverter and that I might need to replace it. Is this the case, and if so, why wasn't this happening with the previous screen?
Thanks for any and all help!
