Hello! I've been trying to find a Bomb Proof case for my Laptop.
I have searched this forum and other and haven't had much luck.
This case will have to ride on a FIre Truck and take a ton of hard knocks. Does anyone have actual experience with the 17'' with a pelican?

I was about to suggest a Pelican and yes they work well. Not sure about the bomb-proof part though.

Alph... LOL! Let's not hope no BOMBS! Do you know what models work for the 17'? It look's like the 1490cc#2 would but I'm not sure.

Thanks!

I hope not too!

I would say the 1495cc/2. It does say, fits 17" laptop and the picture has a MBP in it!

for regular, daily use I've got the Brenthaven prolite III for m MBP 17".
But I've got a large pelicase as well, with the blue deviders. That I use for when it really gets though, and though the case has got serveral scuffs, nocks & nicks, it did workout allright!

but for a tight fitting case you would have to look at the peli site. They have pdf's with all the internal and external dimensions!

this version is for up to 14" widths. http://www.thefirestore.com/store/product.cfm/pid_5087_hardigg_storm_case_im2370_lap_top_case/

So, since the 17 MBP is only about an inch wider, I'm guessing you could "make" it fit.

Or just get the version with the blank foam in it. Fit for sure.

I've got some instrumentation in this case and it fit today quite nicely in the overhead of the continental embraer commuter jet with no hassles. Fits under the seat as well.
