1st Question:

What is the bigest hard drive the 1st gen 17" macbook pro can use?

Also this drive has to be able to support some video editing. I've got my eye on this Seagate from OWC with a drive enclosure kit so I can use the serviceable but small 100gig drive thats in the comptuer now as a portable drive. Is there a larger drive that will give me similar performance that i can use in my computer?

How about RAM? I have 2gb in it now. Thanks in advance

SATA device tree pic below to show what's in the computer now.

Nope, at the moment, that Seagate is the ultimate in internal laptop drives. You'll be happy that baby inside your MBP :D

And about that RAM, if you look up your model in the OWC website, you'll see that 2 GB is the max that your model can use. So you're fine.

Hey thanks Sammich! But will I be kicking myself for not holding out for that 1TB that's sure to be coming out in the next few months? ;)

hehe
