Hey everyone how's it going I was just wondering is there a significant speed difference between the macbook pro 2.16ghz vs. the 2.2ghz. Anyone have any details on that. Also on the video card?.

Aren't those from different processor generations? I thought the 2.2 was the Penryn, and the 2.16 was from the first-gen Core 2 Duo. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If this is the case, the 2.2 would be faster and more power-efficient.

2.2 is santa rosa the 2.16 is late 2006 model.

How Much??

I'm trying to figure out the same thing.... but how much of a difference in real-world performance? (for non-techies)

10-20%?? 30%? More than 50%? Just ballpark it based on how you feel about it....

Thanks a million!! :)

I would guess there wouldn't be enough of a speed difference to matter. Why the question? Trying to decide which one to buy? If so, and the 2.16 is $100 or more cheaper, then that's the one to buy.

Yeah!!

Just did... $1200 (minus $200 I am hoping to get back from Live search) for:

2.16 GHz, 15.4" glossy, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 256MB x1600 GPU, Applecare until Nov 2009, and free case thrown in.

My first ever Pro machine.... Now I'm just waiting for Starcraft II ;)

Thanks for your help!!

I am looking for a macbook pro myself that is quick! looking to spend $1000-1200 price range. So there is not a big difference between the 2.16ghz vs. the 2.2. How about the graphics Nvidia vs. ATI.

Your point of view might be differenet: But I was specfically looking for a MBP with an ATI card. The NVIDIA card has issues, and some have died or gone bad. Apple will replace them if that happens in the initial 2 years (I think), with or without warranty. After that you are on your own... You can search the Forums for more on this.

Performance-wise the NVIDIA is much better card. I'm just more of a pessimist.... so I traded some power for peace of mind.

Good Luck!!

Actually, here you go on the NVIDIA GPU issue:

I've got ATI in my MBP and in my new iMac (at work). They're fine for what I do, but I don't play games, so what do I know?

Good deal! Congratulations.

do you know if the macbook pros 2.16ghz are fast. Core 2 Duo. Will I be satisfied.

Define fast. For what programs? Safari? Fast. Mail? Fast. Photoshop? Fast. I think you'll be satisfied, but I thought my wife might like Spam (the meat product) too. I was wrong on that one.
