Hi there,

I have a MacBook Pro 2.53ghz C2D, Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,5. It is already running 8gb of RAM and a 500gb Momentus XT Hard drive, however in comparison to my families MacBook Airs it is starting to feel very sluggish but it is not time to replace it yet. So I have been given the option to purchase an SSD for around NZD$800, I need between 200-300gb and extreme performance is the aim.

The two options I have identified are the 240gb OCZ Vertex 3 and the 256gb Crucial M4. The Crucial is nice as it is a little cheaper, but Sata3 controlled SSD's don't seem to command much premium here so I do not mind paying a little extra for the chance at saturating a sata2 connection.

This is a list of options available to me

I had a look through this thread on benchmarks and didn't find much similar to my situation, same with any other thread I could find.

I have received some advice that they are both very capable but the Vertex 3 might have a slight speed edge.

If anyone can offer any insight into this or the best option to take it would be much appreciated.
