Macbook Pro 2007 track pad hyper sensativity

I am having a very frustrating problem with my Circa 2007 Macbook Pro.

Recently (<1 month) I have noticed when I am typing my trackpad has become extra sensative and if any part of my skin touches it while I am typing it will instantly register and move the pointer to where ever it is located. Which is usually located four lines up in the middle of a word.

I cannot figure out what is causing this. But it is driving me insane. I am not sure if it is a hardware issue or what but any help would be great.
