Hey Guys,

So the icons on my desktop are messing up. Say I click on one it will select the one above it for some reason. If I click on an empty space about an inch below an icon it will select that icon.

Is there a setting I messed with to cause this or how can I troubleshoot this?

Thanks,
Agent

What Mac OS X version do you use?
Does it also happen in another, even temporarily created, user account?

It says Mac OSX 10.6.8...it's the same OS that came with the computer so I want to say Snow Leopard?

I haven't tried another profile.

First, did you try restarting your Mac? That solves a lot of minor problems. Also, right-click on the desktop and select Show View Options. What does it show for Icon Size and Grid Spacing?

Icons are set to 84x84 and the grid doesn't matter, I've set it low and high and it's the same thing. I also notice the top line of icons are halfway on desktop and halfway above Finder bar.

This problem has occurred for a few months now, just now getting tired of it to be proactive about it. I've restarted multiple times.
