My Macbook Pro 2009 woke up today with a broken trackpad.

Up to today I haven’t had a single problem with it.

The glass isn’t broken, and no liquid has ever touched laptop.

It jerks around when I touch it, sometimes ignores my touch, sometimes reads 3 or 4 fingers when only one is touching it.

The physical click sometimes doesn’t work, and I have to use the tap-to-click.

I am in Portugal, so my machine has a 2 year warranty by law. Is this a problem Apple will fix? Or can I do a quick at home repair?

I have restarted. It is definitely something up with the trackpad.

The problem is that sometimes the trackpad comes back to life for, say, 20minutes at a time.

If I roll up to the Apple Service Provider and can’t show a faulty trackpad, that’s a lot of gas I will burn unnecessarily.
