Anyone who has made the upgrade, how big of a difference is there between these two, either I get a new Macbook pro, or I can trade my current crap windows laptop plus some added cash and I can get a 2009 Macbook.

The new Macbook would cost me around $500 dollars more then the used one, Im living in Mexico.

The 2009 model was no slouch. But the 2011 is much smoother with multitasking. And responsive to tasks like digital painting, if you do that sort of thing.

But the 2011 model, especially when adding a 7200RPM drive and 8GB RAM (which I also did on the 2009 model), runs rings around the 2009. Have no doubt about that. You may not need to, but I tend to be a power-user...
