Dear Friends,
I just replaced the Internal HDs (Internal SATA and CD-Rom-Slot) with two 4TB Samsung EVO 870 SSDs.
I am very pleased with the result, even on this 12 years old Mac. Formatting is Mac OS Extended / GUID
But I am running three partitions of Mac OS: 10.13.6 "High Sierra" / "10.8.5 Mountain Lion" / 10.6.8 "Snow Leopard".
You might guess the reason, 10.6.8 is for Rosetta, 10.8.5 for running the FCP7 Suite (Still powerful in 2023), 10.13.6 for going into the Net.
About High Sierra: As my Macbook belongs to those who had their graphics - chips dying, I had to hack the Firmware - did not try to go to a recent OS as I fear that it might be overwritten with a new install.
Anyway, enabling trimming on 10.13.6 is easy, I already did it, but with 10.8.5 and 10.6.8 it is a hassle.
I already downloaded descriptions the commands, but I wonder:
Shouldn't it be sufficient to boot into 10.13.6 after a day's work on the older OS and have trimming do it's work from there?
For the moment, I do avoid it and work only on 10.8. and 10.6. "untrimmed".
All the best, Frame2023
