Hello guys,
Lately I started to go on trips that last 2-3 months so I need a laptop which is portable and powerful enough.
I own a Sony a7r2 and I do some panoramas with 5-6 42MP RAW shots and I also do some 4K XAVC 100mbs videos, but the final edit is always not more than 4-5 minutes. I use Premiere and Photoshop/LR.
Here are my options that I was thinking.
Eather to get the 2015 15" Macbook pro with quad core(no dedicated GPU)
Or to get the 2016 Macbook pro.
And if I need to work on bigger videos I will get an external GPU via TB/USB C.
Now I am leaning towards the new one because is much more portable.
My main question is;
How much more will I notice the quad core in video editing compared to dual. I dont care that much about rendering/exporting times. All I want from it is to be able to put some color grading and image stabilization on a 4K footage and even if it lags not to go under 10fps when I try to play it back.
Yes I know about offline proxy editing, but didnt try it yet. Would that make my 4K footage after grading, IS still usable?
Will 16gb Ram really make a huge difference?
Yes I will try it out in a store, but I want to know also your oppinion.
P.S. I would consider the new 15inch but its out of my budget.
Thank you and have a nice day!
Nate
