I've wanted to do this for years, and never really had the balls to do it. Now that the laptop is older and the warranty is done anyway, I was like what the hell. This a a fully loaded model with the 2.9GHz CPU.
Idle temps are pretty much identical.
Full load temps have drop 6C. Before the max under sustained load was 2.9-3.0GHz at 99C, Now it's 3.2GHz at 94C. I'll take it. It also turbos higher up to 3.8GHz, before I never went about 3.5GHz. Overall I'm happy, just perplexed about the idle results. I used grizzly kryonaut. Cinebench 20 went from 1574 to 1705. Not sure if this stuff has to cure but I just did it.
Google Octane went from 3400 to 3600, another nice jump
