MacBook Pro 2016 (non touch-bar) - problem with cdmi and projector

Hi there,

Trying to connect my MacBook Pro 2016 to a benq projector via usbc/hdmi adaptor, the projector doesn't show anything but the MacBook seems to recognise the projector (I can see it in the system preferences).

Any ideas?
