I was close to ordering a MacBook 13in 2018 maxed out for $2900 until I realized for the same amount of money I can get a MacBook 13in 2018 with i5, 16 gb ram and 512gb ssd + the black magic egpu for around the same amount of money.

The new Mac will take a while but I did Just order a egpu for pick up tomorrow. I’m kinda curious if anyone knows if the egpu would improve basic usability performance in a 2016 Mac connected to the lg 5k display? I can tell you that my non-touchbar 2016 MacBook Pro is running at 80%+ load most of the time while connected to that monitor so curious if discrete graphics will improve general usability and for video (I stay away from YouTube or any sort of flash media since it spikes cpu load significantly).
