Hi,
I have two MacBook Pro 16" 2019 systems. The old system is going back for exchange, and I've received my new system.
The only problem - the speakers in the new system are quite obviously lacking in definition and upper range. Although I haven't got a measurement mic handy, there's definitely top end missing. The sound is less clearly defined and a little more fatiguing to listen to for a decent period of time. Most people probably wouldn't notice or care, but to me - and if I didn't check side by side, I'd probably have booked myself in for a hearing test thinking something was wrong.
In contrast, the first 16" system I received has hands-down the best speakers in a portable, and I find myself listening to them in preference to my LG 5K speakers.
SO, what's going on here? First system was a launch day 2019 system. Second system was received a few weeks ago - only difference is the 5600M vs the 5500M in the old one. I also compared with a third system that sounded marginally worse than my second system.
Has anyone had experience removing and replacing the speakers before? It looks like it's to be a delicate process, and given the speakers are allegedly glued in with an adhesive gasket (that may even function as a seal for the speaker). I am conscious of the fact that I'd make a big mess of my system.
