Hey everyone, I have a 13 inch 2019 Macbook Pro, At mornings I start at 100% battery and after about 6 hours of light usage such as safari and office, it dies. If I play simple 2D Games on it it dies after about 4 hours. I have a classmate who has a M1 Macbook Air and he plays games all day and does all sorts of things and at the end of the day he has 60% battery leftover while mine died hours ago. I find it abnormal that the M1 Macbook is this much better than my i5 Macbook. Mine literally dies in half a day while he could go 2 days straight without even charging. Is this normal? Like is the M1 that efficient or is my Mac defective? Thanks.

yes but his games probably suck. you can play windows games. :D

do not compare your machine to the m1. they are two very different machines at this point. BOTH with advantages AND disadvantages. the m1 is very efficient with battery power, so if that is your most important need, you should trade in your mpb. The m1 is almost like an iPad Pro that runs macOS apps. where are you playing games that you cannot plug into power?

I play games in boring classes and clasrooms don’t have outlets for me to plug in the charger.

What does an app like "Coconut Battery" (which is free) tell you?

I also have a 13-inch 2019 MacBook Pro. The battery life is dismal. I use it for normal office-type work, and don't play games on it (well, except for the occasional Spider Solitaire). I also keep Bluetooth turned off. And I get 3-4 hours of battery life, maybe. I'm waiting for the fall systems to come out so I can get a new Pro with the M1/M2 or whatever the new processor will be called. But I'm surprised the battery in this one is so bad. And it's not like it's suddenly gotten worse. It's always been this way.

I have the top of the line i9 16" MBP from 2019.

I am lucky to get 4 hours work in before it dies (software engineer).

I had to use my wife's M1 MBA for a week while the MBP was in for repairs (display ghosting).

I easily got 8-10 hours out of it every day, and to add insult to injury, it compiles/runs faster.

The M1 is just that much better than anything that Intel ***** out.

Yeah it is really frustrating. The worst part is back in 2019 I paid a lot for this intel Mac and now when I look at M1 Mac prices they are cheaper.
