Hello!

I have a number of older MacBooks from 2015-2018 and am using my lovely 2019 Macbook Pro that I got in the first 2 weeks of release. Several months and so far no keyboard trouble. I actually quite love it.

Hows your mileage?

My boyfriend had a key replaced (yes key) because they broke it in half while removing the key. Voted for him since he doesnt have an account and he has a '19

getting uneven keyboard backlight on commonly pressed keys on my 2019 keyboard. keyboard is 2 months old after coming in from a replacement.

My 2014 macbook pro keyboard still working fine!

Maybe that was before the change though?

My 2019 (version 3 of KB?) has been fine so far... Now I probably just jinked myself so knock on wood!

Wow guys you're already experiencing issues on this model, i'm starting to regret this purchase :(

Purchased in July and just noticed I have issues

Very disappointed in Apple and myself

Anyone managed to get a refund?

I've had my 2019 MBP for about 3 months and I haven't had a single duplicate keypress failure. However, paint started wearing off the I key within a month, with backlight showing through. I'll take a cosmetic issue any day over a failing key switch though. After 7x failed keyboards (6x 2018, 1 was a 2019 keyboard) across 4 2018 MacBook Pros, it's a huge improvement.

Wow great report thanks.

So this is my work laptop not my personal but I use it more than my personal laptop for programming so I guess that counts? I haven't had any issues. The keyboard feels noticeably better than my personal 2017 machine.

I had 4+ repairs regarding the keyboard and USB C being too loose over time. I have a '17 model. My boyfriend had his keyboard replaced once in his '19 13" macbook pro.

My E key is much brighter than the others after the last repair and they offered to replace my 2017 model with a new 2019 one. I declined the replacement due to the fact that the 19's exhibit the same issue (though its more rare with the newer ones). I also heard of the 16" rumor that was supposed to be released this week which didn't that supposedly has a new keyboard that was used before the butterfly keyboard. I will hold onto my macbook pro until the new one gets released and then demand a replacement. They offered me a 27" Imac instead (Had to be the same price I paid or less), but I declined it because I travel a lot. So I for sure know that they are very lenient in terms of making it up to the customer. I did NOT ask for a refund, and I'm not sure if they would do that, BUT maybe they'd give you a gift card of the price you paid or store credit for future purchase?

Maybe an ex-apple worker can answer this question?

in this exact same position. have a 2018 15 inch macbook pro with 4 major repairs done on my device due to the keyboard issue (2 keyboard replacements, display cause they broke during repair, back plate cause they scratched during repair). currently my laptop has the "E,T,I,O,U,M" keys (most commonly used keys) brighter than the other keys so with this issue, itll be 5 total repairs. hoping that the new 16 inch comes out so i can ask for a replacement for the new one and i'll make up the price difference or something. wondering if this is a possible or if they'll only replace for a device that was equal to or less than what you paid.
