I'm considering buying a 2020 intel i7 mbp 13 in. But have read that it overheats when plugged to a 4k monitor via Thunderbolt. Does anyone else have experience? Would an upgrade to a 32gb help. I will not be doing any graphic intensive work, and will be mostly doing some programming.

Thanks!

Would an upgrade to 32GB help solve the issue? I know that it is GPU problem. But I'm wondering if this could help.

The 16 inch's overheating problems with an external display are caused by its dedicated GPU entering high power states at idle. The 13 inch MBP does not have a dedicated GPU, only integrated graphics, and will not get hot and spin up the fans just idling with an external display plugged in like the 16 inch can.

Thank you. It sounds like it won't be much of an issue (overheating) with the 13 in. model. The amount of negative press that the 13 in gets seems to blown the overheating issue out of proportion.
