I have just purchased a Macbook pro 13 2020 2.0 10th gen coming from a mid 2012 non retina Macbook pro 13

I personally really like the trackpad left/right clicking feel on the 2012 Macbook pro - it feels solid and when you click you know it has been registered - its loud and there is noticeable press to it

The new Macbook trackpad left/right click feels barely noticeable - was this click style introduced this year or is it the same since 2015? Is this regular or is there something wrong with my new laptop?

Thank you,
Xavier

The technology of the trackpads has changed fundamentally in 2015 when Apple introduced "Force Touch". Cf. https://www.macrumors.com/2015/03/12/force-touch-trackpad-click/

Personally, I do not feel relevant differences between the 2015 and the 2020 trackpads.

You can configure the trackpad in Preferences. I suggest playing around a little, to try what's best for you, maybe a stronger "click".

In general, one gets used to the new trackpad style in short time.
