I had a MacBook Pro 16GB/512 on order through the apple store but then saw all of the videos showing how well 8gb was working. I use Adobe Lightroom, a little Photoshop and for movie editing I pretty much stick to iMovie. 8GB from what I've seen should be plenty. Got my 8GB, used Lightroom, Photoshop and iMovie and everything is lightning fast, no issues with ram. Just now though, I have 3 tabs open on Safari with not a single other application open with one of those tabs running a video. The page keeps refreshing because it is using significant memory. I don't get it, anyone else having this issue with web videos on Safari? I was set to cancel my 16gb order, but may have to keep it now

It was sticking to about 6.5GB...then it would reset the page, drop it down to 5GB or so and then come right back up to the 6.5-7 range

but even now, I have 4 tabs open with no video. Memory usage at 6gb. Other than Safari nothing but system apps running

but everyone says 8GB is enough! lol. Try restart the computer and it'll clear the memory. There's definitely some issue with memory management on Big Sur/M1 that needs to be worked out, or 8GB is just not enough. If I were you I would keep that 16GB order.

clearing browsing didn't fix it but restart did. I don't get it, because I restarted before opening safari and that was the only thing open. I have retried the same pages after restart and its working as I would expect now.
