While I'm waiting for my new battery, I'm wondering if my information @ the latest OS this Apple will run--10.7.5--is correct?

As an aside, it's interesting for me to note that another PC I use--a Circa 2009 ThinkPad R500, 15" laptop, using an Intel Core 2 Duo--is very comfortable running Windows 10. Seems that in some machines, these Core 2 Duo chips can still work wonders!

Michael.

Thanks for the comment, and I think I'll try the 10.8 or 10.9 patch...should be fun!

I do have two of the 2-piece, white, MacBooks, and one, 1-piece, the white A1342. They're all really nice machines, and I have High Sierra on the 1342. About the only aspect of the 1342 that I wish was a bit different, is that Google Chrome tells me it's out-of-date. Chrome does just fine, but it would be nice to have a browser that's 2024-Happy.

Oh ( while I'm here...): the 17" A1212 is in very good shape, although I would be happy to find a Skin; the lid is dent-free, but has a few, light, scratches. I've tried Ebay and cannot find a thing...if anyone knows where one of these OLD skins might be found ( a brushed-aluminum finish works for me ) I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks again!

Honesty ( usually! ) being The Best Policy, I have to admit that I've tried a few patches on a few Macs, and never had Good Luck...I'm not sure what happened, but it seems that the Good Folks who put these things together assume that those who will attempt it will know what they're doing, and not need to be shown every step, one-thing-at-a-time!

I did try a patch on my A1342 ( forget what OS I was aiming for...), and my sense is that I should have partitioned the drive differently ( ? ) before starting...it seems that I tried to do just this, but did not get it right. This was a year or so ago, though, and memories fade...

I'm sure that I can do something like this, but, I need to keep looking for a Video that will walk me through it, step-by-step...it's a bit like the Old Saying: 'A Journey of a Thousand Leagues begins with but a Single Step'.

I'll take another look online, soon!
