Thanks Serenity for your reply.
1) Do i have to change the screen or the digitizer.
2) where to source the screen from, any recommendations.
3) is this a DIY job, like opening the machine and attaching the ribbon to the MB without any soldering.
4) any reputable site/ people who can do this around Leeds, UK

The model is A1706 EMC 3071

Thanks

If it's a 2017 model then Apple classify it as vintage (they may be able to repair it depending if parts are available). If you are in Leeds, UK then you have an Apple store right on your doorstep, perhaps check that out first?

"Ifixit website say 445 dollars..
Any cheaper alternatives"

Think for a minute:
Doing the job yourself might be the only "cheaper" alternative.
Is it really worth spending that much on a now-7-year-old laptop?

The money might be better spent towards a replacement.

Don't know about the UK, but here in the USA the m3 and m3pro MacBook Pros are all on sale (big discounts) as the existing stock is moved out for the new m4/m4pro models coming in a few weeks.

Just a thought...

Hello,
I want to use this macbook pro with external display. Got all the cables and a 4k monitor.

When I connect and turn it on for some reason the display goes to.screen saver and the mouse pointer works but nothing else works on the mackbook pro (no keys ) I have to press the off button to turn it on.

The circle of death circles for a while on top left corner snd then dissapears but the screen saver pucture stays on.
Does any one know what's wrong.
Can it be a DIY job... got the set of tools
Thanks

The touch bar and the track pad work and the pointer is also moving. Screen is stuck on screen saver.
