Macbook Pro advice

I'm thinking about getting an MBP
Do you think its worth waiting til the next update (should be january ish i guess?) or just take the plunge now
Also would the update be significant enough to worry?

I dont need it right now but what i mean is is it worth it buying it now or do you think the next update will be significant enough to be worth me waiting the next 4 months or so
Also there is supposedly a new ilife soon so i dont want it to be outdated too quickly after i buy it
I need about a month to get funds any way so...

Depends what you do. If your usage isn't particularly heavy, then current gen should satisfy your needs.

I would be getting logic as i do audio work (the main reason I want a mac)
Some gaming (Civ 5, assassins creed for example)
Thats about all, would the current 13 inch have the firepower (im not totally sure) or would i have to go for the 15 inch with the better graphics and i5?

13" would be sufficient but if you have the $ for 15", go for it. Take a look at refurbs if you're on budget.

I'll take a look at refurbs I dont have enough to get a MBP 15 inch i just wanted to check that i would not get something that then wouldnt do what i want
Are there any decent refurb shops other thann the apple stores bit

Why january? Historically speaking, the next update should be in october/november.

I realise its 170 days since the last update and 208 is the average update time so thats sort of early november
but I allowed til januaryish as there was only the new ipods quite recently so i would be surprised if they had another conference
Also waswn't the iPad announced in january so i wouldn't be surprised if there was another conference around then
Then there would be Summer - iPhone update, Autumn - iPod, Winter/Spring Mac and/or iPad

I'd say thats reasonable
