Any idea when the Macs will ship with Leopard already installed?
I don't want a client to have the hassle of having to run an upgrade from Tiger.

You should not have a problem installing Leopard, i never had any problems with any OS X major update. It is recommended to do a clean install, so you should look for some backing up software. I think if you order a mac on the 26th you will get one with Leopard pre-installed or if you live beside an apple store they normally get a few macs with leopard pre-installed.

I would say after Oct 26th. They should come preinstalled after that date.

I am sure it is easy. But as I said, I would not want a client to have this hassle.

Looks like I have to advise they wait until Oct 26.

Another question, will printer/scanner drivers for Brother printers work in Leopard if they were made for Tiger?

So its recommended that you do a clean install of the new OS? I have 10.4 and want to upgrade to Leopard when it comes out and have never upgraded a mac before. Is it possible to just upgrade and keep the data intact? Any recommendations on backup software? (I have an external HD)

leopard comes with printer drivers so that shouldn't be a problem

its upto you, you can do an archive and install to keep your data.
I use carbon copy cloner to back up my HD

I need the SCANNER to work in the Brother multi-function printer/scanner/fax. Brother released their scanner drivers for Tiger June 2007. Before the driver release, the scanner wouldn't function (or I think it barely worked).

Will Tiger scanner drivers function in Leopard?
