Just thought id post this for those considering one, if there is a frys electronics close buy, they currently have it going for $1599 in store. Thats better then a student discount. Mine is a couple weeks past apples price match timeframe, but im thinking about picking up one for the wife as she now wants one.

Is that the current generation? Because that's one hell of a discount.

If you are looking to pick up another one, then yes, that looks to be as good of deal as you will find.

Not The Current Gen

This is not the current i5 generation. I checked the model number (MC118LL/A) and that is a C2D. Sorry guys, not as good of a deal as you thought.

HOW DO I GET A PRICE MATCH?!?!? didnt know they did them...

Just so you know Apple does do that. In February when I got my Macbook(late 09) MicroCenter had a deal on it for $799. I went to the Apple Store, showed them the deal, they knew of it, and said they'd sell me the laptop for $799 in the Apple Store, because theyd rather have me buy it from their retail store, not microcenter. 20 min later, I walked out the door w/ the MacBook for $799 just like the microcenter deal

Must be an ad mistake then. That sucks.

Don't think its an ad mistake. The ad clearly shows its for the older C2D 15" Macbook Pro. To quote just one line: "The power-saving NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics processor inside..."

Just picked one of these up, its the current model.

Apple Part # MC371LL/A

I went down to frys to pickup a ssd and asked them if that price is for the newest gen and they said yes the one with the i5, the price is good for a week.

That's the older generation model.

No... They had 3 models that were $999. The MacBook, MacBook Pro 13'' C2D (old one), and the MacBook Pro 13'' C2D (new one). I looked at and thought who in the hell would buy the old one? On the new one, the sticker tag said "good through ...." on it and was a temporary sale.

Fry's is well known for misleading ads and statements. Won't step into their stores for anything that uses electrons or can be eaten. :p
