I have a 2006 Macbook Pro (Core Duo) with horrible battery life. Apple sent me a replacement battery about a year ago, but now this one is acting up, also. I'm getting the "Service Battery" indicator, so I've tried recalibrating several times. The problem is, there's still nearly half a charge on the battery once it says it's empty. It takes well over twenty four hours for the battery to completely deplete after going into sleep mode. I want to reclaim that battery capacity. How do I do this?

Since it's faulty, it might be not giving you the correct readings of the battery life.
Who knows.
Sometimes it's better to trust the battery status.

Since you said your battery is changed about a year ago, it should be still under warranty.
