I have a late 2008 MacBook Pro that has been suffering from power issues for a while. The original battery started to expand and apparently it wasn't under warranty, so I purchased a cheaper and larger third party MacBook Pro battery made for the model. Before and after replacing the battery, I would have an issue with running the unit on the charger alone. I would have to insert the battery first, start up the machine, and then remove the battery to get it to run off the outlet. In the most recent weeks, about two months after replacing the battery, the MacBook Pro would randomly shut off when the wall charger was removed, despite the battery being in and charged. Earlier today, I was using the machine on the battery alone, and then I had put it to sleep. Coming back to it now, the battery is completely drained and the machine is unresponsive. The charging indicator on the MagSafe connector is working and displays an amber light. The battery indicator flashes rapidly for 3 seconds when the charger is removed, but doesn't display a charging status when the charger is in.

TL;DR: MacBook Pro with weird power issues is currently unresponsive after the battery drained completely, after being put to sleep.

If anyone has had any similar experience, I'd be appreciative of any knowledge you can extend.

Edit: It works now that the battery has had some time to charge. I'm guessing the issue is in the charging adapter.
