Greetings,

So heres me thinking. I never use the superdrive in my 2012 15" MacBook Pro and I don't need more storage space either so I don't have a benefit in replacing it with an extra hard drive, so I wondered if there is a possibility of increasing the battery size.
With an iPhone its possible to get another battery and solder them in parallel for a double capacity, someone on this forum even did it.
In the Macbook pro there isn't space for a second identical sized battery but there is space for roughly a 50% increase.
What I would see as a problem is the circuit board that monitors the individual cells, doubt you can trick it or make it manage more cells.

What do you guys think, should I bother researching more into this or is it impossible?

cheers

Well you asked for opinions and in my opinion that is far more trouble than it's worth, with the most likely outcome being a broken macbook pro....
