MacBook Pro Battery Replacement

Good morning all,

I have a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo old style MacBook Pro which needs a new battery. It has the Sony ASMB012 battery, has a cycle count of 580 and it tells me it needs to be replaced. My question is have batteries improved in performance in the last few years or do I need to get another Sony ASMB012 ?? If so, as money is very tight where is the best place (in the UK) to buy a new one from ?
