is it ok to leave my macbook pro plugged in for hours and hours past its charge limit? i feel more comfortable leaving it in while i'm at home and running on the battery when i'm out and about.

It shouldn't be a problem since it's not charging a full battery anyway, but you are consuming some electricity as long as the power adapter is plugged in.

it's fine, just do a complete discharge every so often.
