Hey everyone,

I just bought a Macbook Pro (A1226) off Craigslist. Everytime I turn on the macbook, the backlight goes on but the black screen stays.

If I connect an external monitor, it works perfectly.

Based on the information, I did some research and I believe it is either the Data Cable or the whole LCD.

Anyone have any opinions? Or know anything about it?

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking.

I have the whole laptop apart, just wanting to get some confirmation before I spend more money.

LVDS cables run $20 - 40. I would bet that is your problem, though I would be sure to check the connectors on both the panel, the logic board and the cable ends to check for damage. The LVDS cable is obviously supplying power to the backlight still, so it may be intact while the problem exists on the logic board or display panel.

If you don't see any damage to the boards, go ahead and order the LVDS cable.

If you want a quote PM me your serial number.
