I just got a refurbished 10/08 model MBP. Just randomly the screen goes off for a split second and then comes back up. To reproduce the effect, you can press CONTROL+Shift+Eject. This is exactly what happens.

However, I am not using that combination and it still happens. Is it something to do with the Brightness adjusting automatically?

I had this on mine too. Brought it back to the Apple store for repair and they replaced the logic board. This completely solved the problem. I suggest you do the same!

How long did that take?. Did they do it in store or did you have to send it in. Coz I can't be without a computer since I have so much stuff due for school.

It took just under two weeks. But this will depend on how long the queue of work is in your local store. If you bought this within 14 days you might be able to just swap out for a replacement although don't quote me on this.

It almost certainly isn't something that would be done while you wait in store I would think.

I bought this from the Apple Refurb online store when the new MBP's were announced.

Also, when I checked in system profile-I have a 9600M and 9600 MGT. Is there a way I can make the MBP use the MGT?

System Preferences..... Energy Saver..... Higher Performance.....

.....was that a serious question?.....
