I haven't been able to find postings on this exact problem. Recently, from one day to the next, the click function on my Bluetooth mouse stared acting erratically. (It's a 2-button Logitech with scroll wheel.) Here are some of the symptoms:
1. It usually won't click on the first try.
2. It will lose the "click" while I'm highlighting, which causes no end of problems
3. When I lift up my finger after highlighting a passage, the mouse usually loses the highlight, as if it's doing an additional click with I let go.
4. It will lose the "click" while I'm dragging-and-dropping, which also causes no end of problems!
5. In many instances a click seems to be interpreted as 2 clicks, one when I remove my finger from the button.
Before this problem started nothing (to my knowledge) was changed on the computer (settings or Preferences), there was no OS software upgrade. (The problem started before I upgraded to 10.6.x from 10.5.x.)
Here's what I've tried
1. I happen to have two identical mice, but the problem is the same for both of them.
2. Batteries are okay
3. I've cleaned every part of the mice I can think of, including spraying in some contact cleaner.
4. As far as I can tell, the click function of the touch pad works fine.
5. I've reset various mouse Preferences (speed of double-click, etc) but nothing changed.
It's very difficult to work with a faulty mouse click function and I need some help!
Thanks.
