I have a macbook pro, that is booting up to a black screen. Underneath the Apple logo while booting, there is also a progress bar.

Ive tried a few solutions with no luck. Ive tried resetting the SMC, and tried the power off button plus "S" trick, the only two solutions I could find myself.

I ran a diagnostic tool and hardware appears fine. Any other ideas?

If it's a 2011 15"/17" MBP, Radeongate hit your Mac.

That is normal in Yosemite

That is the start up screen for yosemite. have you upgraded recently?? Is it still working fine??? If so then that is as it should be enjoy.

If it's not booting up then you may have to reinstall the OS....
