About to use a Spyder2Express to calibrate my MBP C2D display. It says if the monitor has any controls such as brightness or contrast it should all be reset to default before calibrating. Could anyone tell me what these defaults are? I've messed about with the brightness quite alot just using the keyboard keys and can't remember what the original settings were. Is this necessary or do these settings not really matter?

I would try it without messing with it. The latest calibrations I've done on my old PowerMac with a Dell 30" display, the calibration system was able to set everything without me doing any of the fiddling like in the old days. My guess is that anything recent is the same way so give it a shot. If you want to adjust it, I'd crank it down from max just to give it some room to adjust if needed.
